Depart Sydney or Melbourne in the morning and arrive in Shanghai in the evening. You will be met by our Chinese tour guide and transferred to your 5-star hotel in Shanghai.

After breakfast, you will start your sightseeing in Shanghai. Enjoy your wonderful tour to beautiful Yu Garden in the old Shanghai City and walk along the famous Bund area. Then continue to visit the former French Concession area and enjoy your shopping in Nanjing Road, known as the No. 1 Shopping Paradise in China. Visit Pudong area including the Oriental Pearl Tower (going inside to the second floor). In this evening, you will attend an unbelievable Acrobatic Performance.

After breakfast, you are at leisure. After lunch, you are transferred to airport for a flight to Yichang (you will have your dinner onboard your flight). Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to board the five star cruise ship for your Yangtze River cruise. With a rich Chinese cultural heritage of thousands of years, the Three Gorges is not only a picturesque natural gallery, but also a spectacular treasure house.

Today you will visit the Three Gorges Dam at Sandouping, the largest in the world. Later sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship locks. Sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles), and the deepest of the Three Gorges. Additional Tribe of the Three Gorges Shore Excursion (river conditions permitting), offering an interesting glimpse into life in the Xiling Gorge region.

Take an excursion through the Goddess Stream Small Gorges, which are narrower than the Three Gorges, but very impressive. Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains, and cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the precipices. Then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest (5 miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic gorge. Additional Shore Excursion to White Emperor City (river conditions permitting), an ancient city overlooking the western end of Qutang Gorge.

Take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai, with its impressive wooden pagoda, appropriately named “The Pearl of the Yangtze”. Depending on river conditions, an alternate excursion may be substituted to Fengdu, visiting either the new relocation village built for families who have moved as a result of the Yangtze’s rising waters brought about by the Three Gorges Dam.

The cruiser arrives at the destination – Chongqing. Visit Chongqing city areas including Jiefangbei and its Pedestrian Street. Afterwards, you are transferred to train station to take a high-speed train to Xian (Reference train: G3360, Chongqing West 12:38 – Xi’an North 18:19, 5h41m). Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel to check in.

Visit the Porcelain Terra Cotta Warriors Factory to see how the local make the porcelain terra-cotta figures, the same way, which their old generation used to make the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses for the Qin Shi Huang’s Tomb. Continue to visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, the attached defending army to the first emperor of China, regarded as “the eighth wonder of the world” and return to City to visit the Big Goose Pagoda. Later afternoon, you will be transferred back to hotel.

After breakfast, you will visit the Ancient City Wall, which is not only the most complete city wall that has survived in China, but is also one of the largest and most complete ancient military defence systems in the world. After lunch, transfer to the train station for your high-speed train to Beijing, the capital city of China (Reference train: G368, Xi’an North 14:26 – Beijing West 18:37). Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to dinner.

Beijing served as the capital of 5 dynasties over a period of 800 years with each emperor identified as a dragon sent from the heaven. Start your city tour to Tiananmen Square, followed by a visit to the Forbidden City. This complex, the largest and most intact conglomeration of ancient structures of the imperial palace ever built in the world, features more than 800 buildings with 9999 rooms, resplendent golden-glazed roofs, red lacquered pillars and vermilion walls. Enjoy the famous Kungfu (Martial Art) show in the evening.

The highlight today is a trip to the astonishing Great Wall at Mutianyu Part. The Great Wall is the most famous image of China throughout the world. It is the only man-made object visible from the moon, and as one of the Eight Wonders of the world. It is a symbol of Chinese traditional culture and the pride of the Chinese nation. Later visit the Sacred Path to Ming Tombs. This is an attractive destination as much for the natural scenery of the area as for the tombs themselves. And tonight enjoy the famous Peking Duck dinner in a local restaurant.

After breakfast, visit Temple of Heaven, a complex of imperial religious Confucian buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and then later restored by the Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest and other seasonal rites. After lunch, go to visit Olympic Park to have a look at the Stadium and Water Cubes afar. And then enjoy a Pedicab Ride through the Hutongs. Visit the famous “Shichahai Bar Street” which is a famous scenic area, surrounded by places of historic interest and scenic beauty, remnants of old-style Beijing residences, Hutong and Courtyard.

Both Sydney and Melbourne passengers will depart to Shanghai at 1:00pm on MU5196, arriving at Shanghai Pudong Airport at 3:15pm. Sydney passengers will depart at 8:20pm on MU561 and Melbourne passengers will depart at 8:15pm on MU737, both arriving at Sydney or Melbourne at 09:00am the following morning.
